Περί τα 40 λίτρα μπύρας καταναλώνει ετησίως κάθε Έλληνας, ενώ ειδικά το καλοκαίρι το «χρυσό» ποτό αναδεικνύεται πρωταθλητής στις προτιμήσεις. Ωστόσο, αυτό το ποτό ευρείας κατανάλωσης έχει μια από τις υψηλότερες φορολογίες στην Ευρώπη, με αποτέλεσμα η τιμή της να βρίσκεται στην πρώτη πεντάδα.
